Privacy

Memory Line exists to keep voices safe — starting with being careful about whose they are and who can hear them. Last updated July 2026.

Who we are

Memory Line is an audio guestbook service built and operated in the UK, serving events in the UK and the US. When you create an event, we operate the phone line, store the messages and give you a private place to listen to them. Questions about anything on this page: hello@memoryline.io.

What we hold

For hosts: your email address, display name and sign-in details.

For events: the title, hosts’ names, event date, the greeting and questions you record, and the messages your guests leave.

For callers: we do not store guests’ phone numbers in readable form by default. Numbers are hashed (pseudonymised) so we can group a caller’s messages together; the readable number is stored only if you, the host, switch caller ID visibility on.

Consent on every call

Every call to a Memory Line number begins with a recorded notice that the message will be recorded and shared with the hosts. It is part of the call flow itself and cannot be switched off.

Where audio lives

Audio is stored in private cloud storage and served only through short-lived signed links. There are no public files and no public pages for your event’s messages.

How long we keep things

Messages stay online for your tier’s keep-online window (one year, three years, or the life of the service). We email you before any window ends; after it ends, audio is deleted from our storage.

Your rights

You can download your messages, hide them, or delete them — one at a time or the whole event. Deleting an event removes its recordings, transcripts and phone-number links in one go. For any GDPR request (access, correction, erasure), email hello@memoryline.io and we’ll act on it promptly.

For US events and guests

Your data is processed and stored in the UK and the EU, under UK and EU data-protection law, wherever your event takes place. If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA — including the right to know what personal information we hold, to have it deleted, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@memoryline.io.

Calls to US event lines carry the same recorded notice as every Memory Line call: callers hear that their message will be recorded and shared with the hosts before they speak. Continuing past that notice is the caller’s consent to the recording.
